Covered Wagons

Can I buy completely assembled wagons?

Yes, where distance makes delivery feasible. We ship ourselves and we also use commercial carriers

How long will it take to get my order?

We try to deliver within two weeks of the order, however in some cases delivery may take longer. We keep an inventory of all parts and products sold and therefore allowing us to ship to you sooner. Our busiest time of year is May to June and we may run out of inventory. To guarantee you shipment during these two months order early.

What is the least expensive way to ship?

Shipping that is prepaid realizes a 50% discount. Shipping dock to dock, is the least expensive. Two wagon kits take about the same floor space as one because we stack them two high.

How long will a wagon last?

The covered wagon will last 25 years, and longer if covered with a construction tarp during off seasons. If the wood is treated with "Sikkens' - Cetol #1 clear 078 the wagon will last indefinitely. The concrete wheels are 50 plus years.

Do I need to be a skilled carpenter to build a covered wagon?

No, the print is drawn with the layman in mind. The photos and printed instructions guide the novice through to completion. Most of the wagons have been built by retired hobbyist.

How long does it take to assemble a covered wagon?

Times will vary however we have found that with 2 people it takes 29 hours of working time for the first wagon. Each additional wagon takes 24 hours.

How much does a completed wagon weigh

About 1000Kg (2,200 lbs), they can be easily moved with an outdoor forklift and extended forks.

Can the Covered Wagons or Teepees easily be sponsored

Yes, by painting the sponsors name on the wagon cover (ex. "The Jim Smith Family Wagon). The name can also be painted on the Teepee cover or on a sign near the Teepee (which we also sell).

Teepees

Can Tipis be left up year round

We recommend that they be left up year round. More damage is done to the cover by putting it up and down then by leaving it up. The poles will weather if the cover is taken off. All furnishings are well protected inside the teepee.

How long will the Tipi cover last?

The cover is made from a new vinyl formula that has ultra violet protection and has a expectant life of 25 years. The cover will stay cleaner if a coat of vinyl sealant is applied.

Will the Tipi meet fire and health regulations?

The cover will not support combustion and meets or exceeds all Canadian and American fire codes. Because of the special crown receiver on the top of the tipi (which makes the tipi water tight) it will pass all health codes for a sleeping accommodation.

How long does it take to put a Tipi up?

Following the instructions provided , it will take 3 people , 3 hours to erect. The various floor options would add to this time.

Should the Tipi poles be finished?

The poles look nicer and last longer if a preservative is applied, from linseed oil to oil based stains. We recommend a product called "Sikkens- Cetol #1 078 clear. However treatment is not required if you do not want.

Can the Tipi cover be painted?

They can be painted using special vinyl paint (we supply) and priming with isopropelene. Our paint covers well in one coat and if properly primed will not peel.
